The Big East steps into the spotlight on Wednesday as the No. 4 Villanova Wildcats face the Seton Hall Pirates. The Wildcats are rolling right now, having won eight in a row. One of those victims was Seton Hall, who gets a chance to exact revenge on their home court.
The Wildcats (16-2 SU, 9-7-1 ATS) held off Georgetown for a 55-50 win on the road on Saturday, getting 15 points each from Josh Hart and Ryan Arcidiancono. Villanova also held Georgetown to 32.7% from the field, which helped as the Wildcats shot just 38.3% themselves. They made just three of their 18 three-point attempts.
The Pirates (13-4 SU, 10-6 ATS) snapped a two-game skid with an 81-72 win at Providence on Saturday with Khadeen Carrington coming off the bench to score 22 points. Seton Hall outrebounded Providence 50-36 and held them to 30.1% shooting, which countered 19 turnovers by the Pirates.
Villanova’s 72-63 win at home over Seton Hall on January 6 was their seventh in 10 meetings with the Pirates. Neither team shot 40% in this game, which sounds like a typical, hard-nosed contest from the Big East. Both had a player with 20 points in the game.
