Cole Hamels (3.09 ERA) expects to take the mound for Chicago against his former team. Hamels has resurrected his career in the Windy City, leading the Cubs to a 13-6 record this year with the Under at 10-9. He only lasted four innings in his previous meeting with the Phillies on May 22, but that was enough for Chicago to win 8-4 as –172 home favorites.
It’s not official at press time, but Aaron Nola (3.67 ERA) is penciled in to start for the Phillies. Nola has a 16-9 team record with the Over at 15-9-1. On May 23, he pitched 5.1 innings against the Cubs and gave up three earned runs as the Phillies (–125) won 9-7. Nola’s gotten plenty of help from his teammates at 5.56 runs per game, up from 4.71 on average, while the Cubs have scored 6.37 runs per game behind Hamels compared to five runs on the season.
